The cycling club held the annual Jimmy Rea Memorial 10 Mile Open Time Trial last Wednesday evening, the late Jimmy Rea had been a local likely lad best known perhaps for his piping, which took him across the world to The Great Wall of China, Moscow's Red Square and The Grand Canyon not forgetting the time he piped on top off the mill chimneys. A keen photographer he captured many a cycling club event when out drumming up on a Sunday morning run or at the roadside. He also found the time to take a very active roll within the club holding the posts of Treasurer, Secretary, Chairman and Life Member. On Wednesday twenty two riders took part on a fine still night on the Gala course. Visiting rider Andrew (Musselburgh RCC) was the fastest rider on the night coming in with 21 min 57 sec, second Kenny  Darling (Hawick CC)  22 min 10 and Craig Dale (The Bicycle Works) 22 min 18 sec. Fastest Gala rider was again Rob Martin 22 min 24 sec, who was chased to line by Gary Robson, Alistair Meikle and Ross Laidlaw all finishing within 35 seconds, some close racing by the Gala boys. It was also a very successful night for Gareth Murray 28 min 38 sec and Murray Shields 31 min 55 sec both producing their season and personnel best times.
Continuing on her recent Ladies Scottish Championship in the 50 mile TT, Andrea Pogson did it again in Inverness on Sunday becoming Scottish Champion taking part in the 100 Mile Scottish Championship winning time of 4 hrs 22 min 20 sec, Andrea was making good time but said afterwards " I hit the wall at 80 miles and really had to grit my teeth for the last 20" . A massive congratulations to Andrea, Double Ladies Scottish Champion in 50 miles and 100 miles.
